Friday Finds

Welcome to our new, fun little series called Friday Finds! It may be our latest favorite beauty product, a recipe that is a hit with our families, a new favorite show or book...anything that strikes our fancy. Here are our latest Friday Finds!

During a recent Agatha Christies-Miss Marples marathon (I love a good murder mystery,) it was suggested to me that I might like Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries by the oh-so-smart, Netflix.  I read the description.  Murder? Check. Period piece? Check. Okay, I will give it a go….ten minutes in I'm HOOKED.

My latest guilty pleasure takes place in Melbourne during the second half of the 1920’s. Much like our beloved Miss Marple,  Miss Phryne Fisher is extremely independent, highly intelligent and very witty. Unlike my favorite spinster this lady detective is glamorous,  a rule breaker, carries a pistol and worldly....*wink wink*

Of course I told Jessica to watch and she is just as obsessed as I am. I believe she finished two seasons in two weeks!

Season One and Season Two are available on Netfix and Season Three is due to air this year sometime in Australia, so hopefully we won’t have to wait to long for it to arrive here. If you don't have Netflix, you can purchase Seasons 1 & 2 on Amazon!

I struggle with skin care..trying to find the right balance to treat break outs and aging all in one. I try everything from high end, spa type products to products easily found in your local drugstore. I don't discriminate, I just want something that works for my finicky skin! One line I often go back to and have had good luck with is Mario Badescu. I was first introduced to it many years ago when I read Martha Stewart uses it. Have you seen how good she looks for her age?! Back then, I could only find the line at Nordstrom. When I stumbled upon it at my local Ulta, you can say I was excited.

The line is very affordable (only a smidge higher than lines I see at Target), made in the USA and isn't tested on animals. All major points in my book.

I usually break out when using products that contain Vitamin C, which is a disappointment because there are so many benefits! Vitamin C for the skin can help fight free radicals, help reverse sun damage and fade wrinkles. So recently when I ran out of my moisturizer that I really wasn't happy with,  I once again checked the Mario Badescu shelf at Ulta and the Hydro Moisturizer with Vitamin C caught my eye because it's formulated for combination skin. I brought it home and I AM LOVING IT! It's light weight, non-sticky, absorbs within a minute, works great under make up for day or over my night time glycolic, plumps my skin and DOESN'T MAKE ME BREAK OUT!! Looks like this one will be staying in my beauty care routine!
