On September 22, Shaun and I celebrated our one year anniversary! We had a big party with family and friends on the 21st then packed our bags and headed to Weilea, Maui!:) Did we take the Road to Hana? No. Did we paddle board? No. Sunset cruise? No. We did pretty much NOTHING(and a little shopping;) My husband is usually going 150 mph work or play so just sitting poolside with our only worry for six days was where to eat for dinner was perfect. So I have a few restaurant recommendations for you..go to Hali'imaile General Store. This eatery is set in a 1925 plantation "general store". It is off the beaten path but so worth the drive. Try the Popcorn Shrimp dipped in Truffle Honey. Delicious! If you are looking for amazing cocktails, top notch service, and inventive dishes, then dine at Spago set in the fabulous Four Seasons Hotel in Wailea. Do not leave with out trying the Spicy Ahi Tuna "Poke" in Sesame in Miso Cones. We went back for seconds the next night. If you are looking for a romantic evening set to a string duo overlooking the pacific then Ferraro's Bar Ristorante in the Four Seasons would be the place. The lunch and dinner menus are different so one can go twice in one day..we did:) Our little "second honeymoon" , as Shaun called, was totally romantic, easy, and a needed break. Looking back over the past year I think about all the travel, parties, and fun but I also think about how hard the first year can be. My close friends are honest about this "honeymoon" period, it can be challenging at moments to bring two individuals together and make "one" to a "us". With that I must say there in not a single person on this planet I could imagine this journey with. I love the man I married and I am very looking forward to year 2 and 3,4,5,6.........
