I hope everyone had a fun filled weekend! My weekend started off right: picking up the husband at the airport which is not unusual, he has traveled about 170,000 miles this year, and counting. He had business in Moscow and rather enjoyed the city. I am hoping to join him soon on a future trip! Most of Saturday was spent preparing for a BBQ and learning how to make the proper espresso using my espresso machine...I can't believe I have had that thing for almost a year without touching it. The BBQ was so fun. About 20 close friends came over, and with the help of our "master BBQer" friend Chris, we enjoyed a fabulous meal of filet mignon, heirloom tomato salad with a basil lemon dressing, simple pasta, grilled veggies, pasta salad, garlic bread and an array of sweets after (not to mention some fantastic wines)! Perfect! Sunday morning Shaun made his famous Bloody Caesar, it is the best I have ever had which is why I am sharing his recipe below. We ended the weekend with a walk to downtown Los Altos for dinner with Shaun's mom. Oh and check out a new shop The Botanist. Beautiful display of plants and great gifts for the gardener in your life.
Shaun's Bloody Caesar:
Fill the glass with ice add the following:
2 oz. of good Vodka
splash of Worcestershire Sauce
dash of A.1 Steak Sauce
splash of Tabasco (add more or less for desired spice level)
1/2 teaspoon of Horseradish
1 Cup of Clamato juice
pinch of Celery Salt and fresh ground pepper
stir
Wedge of lime and a celery stick
